House Concurrent Resolution 67

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE RICHTON HIGH SCHOOL REBELS BASEBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2010 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Richton High School Rebels Baseball Team finished the 2010 season with an outstanding record of 30 wins and three losses including winning their district championship with a perfect 12-0 record in the district; and

WHEREAS, the Rebels did very well in the state playoffs this year, winning the South State Championship for the third time in four years and the State Championship for the third time in four years; and

WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed upon various team members in recognition of their fine, dedicated play this season, including the naming of JaCoby Jones and Tilur Smith to the 2010 Crossroads All-Star Game and the selection of Coach Brandon Davis as coach of the 2010 Crossroads All-Star Game; and

WHEREAS, the Rebels led the state in team home runs with a total of 48 during the 2010 season; and

WHEREAS, the 2010 team had a strong class of seniors, including JaCoby Jones, David Walley, Tilur Smith, Kameron Mills, Taler Smith, Matthew Rylee, Rakeem Simms, Myles Mayo, J.B. Bolton, Jarrett Mills and Allen Sullivan; and

WHEREAS, the Rebels have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Brandon Davis, who broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Rebels have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to Richton High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Richton High School Rebels Baseball Team and their coach, Head Coach Brandon Davis, for their outstanding 2010 season, for winning the Class 2A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Richton High School, Head Coach Brandon Davis and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
