A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE WILL OF THE LEGISLATURE IN RECOGNIZING THE RIGHTS OF MISSISSIPPI CITIZENS TO HUNT, FISH, TRAP AND HARVEST WILDLIFE AND FISH.
WHEREAS, hunting, fishing, trapping and harvesting wildlife and fish are a valued part of our state's heritage; and
WHEREAS, in protecting this heritage, responsible fish and wildlife management, including its taking or harvesting, is consistent with the state's duty to conserve and manage the state's wildlife resources; and
WHEREAS, responsible fish and wildlife management should be accomplished by reasonable laws that restrict and regulate the hunting, fishing, trapping and harvesting of wildlife and fish, while also affording our citizens the opportunity to enjoy those activities; and
WHEREAS, the right to engage in the legal hunting, fishing, trapping and harvesting of wildlife and fish should be recognized and preserved for the people of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize the rights of Mississippi citizens to hunt, fish, trap and harvest the fish and wildlife resources of this state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
