Senate Concurrent Resolution 681

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND SALUTING THE CLINTON HIGH SCHOOL ATTACHÉ SHOW CHOIR FOR ITS NATIONAL RECORD 22 STRAIGHT GRAND CHAMPIONSHIPS, FOR ITS OUTSTANDING 2009-2010 COMPETITION SEASON AND FOR HOSTING THE SHOW CHOIR NATIONALS AT THE GRAND OLE OPRY IN NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE.

     WHEREAS, Attaché is the show choir from Clinton High School.  Since 1992, Attaché has been under the dedicated and energetic direction of David and Mary Fehr.  Attaché has won 53 of 61 competitions entered which includes the national record winning streak of 22 straight Grand Championships while competing against the elite groups from across the nation; and

     WHEREAS, the renowned Clinton High School Attaché Show Choir under the direction of David and Mary Fehr won Grand Champion honors in every competition in which they competed in 2009-2010; and

     WHEREAS, Attaché was named Grand Champion of the Crystal Classic held at Fairfield High School, Fairfield, Ohio, on March 6, 2010.  Attaché also received Best Choreography, Best Instrumental Combo, Best Costumes and Best Set; and

     WHEREAS, Attaché was named Grand Champion of the South Central Classic held at Homewood High School, Homewood, Alabama, on February 20, 2010.  This was the group's 52nd Grand Championship out of 60 competitions entered in the 18 years under the direction of David and Mary Fehr and continues Attaché's streak of having never been defeated by another school from Mississippi in its 30th year of existence; and

     WHEREAS, twenty-three high schools competed in the Homewood event.  Attaché received all the First Place votes from the judges with scores of 197, 197, 199, 199 and 197 out of a possible 200.  Attaché also received the awards for Best Vocals, Best Choreography and Best Overall Effect; and

     Attaché was named Grand Champion of the Mississippi Show Choir Contest held at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, February 6, 2010.  Hosted by Pearl River Community College, 17 show choirs competed.  Attaché also won the caption awards for Best Vocals, Best Choreography and Best Overall Effect; and

     WHEREAS, Attaché has been the Host Choir of the Show Choir Nationals since the inception of the competition in 2002 which is held annually at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.  Attaché has opened for the Grand Ole Opry and alumni have performed on the nationally broadcast show.  Show Choir Nationals gathers elite, competitive performing groups from across the country, and maintains the integrity necessary for a national competition; and

     WHEREAS, the 2010 talented senior singer/dancers of Attaché are:  Jacob Breithaupt, Christopher Brewer, Alex Ellis, Michael Gann, Michael Greer, Stephen Greer, Jaquael Hudson, Corbin Stanford, Maegan Bedells, Lauren Babb, Erin-Ashlyn Evans, Kaylan Prewitt, Lindy Ringler, Camisha Tolliver and Megan Turcotte; Crew:  Dylan Dabbs, Caitlin Durst, Jordan Broadstreet, Liz Serio and Olivia Wilson; Pit:  Hollis Bennett and Matt Little; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize and commend the accomplishments of the students of this nationally and internationally known show choir which has brought honor to Clinton High School, the City of Clinton and the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize and salute the Clinton High School Attaché Show Choir for its national record of 22 straight Grand Championships, for its outstanding 2009-2010 competition season and for again hosting the Show Choir Nationals at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, and extend our best wishes to the students, directors, parents and sponsors of this award-winning choir in their future competitions.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the Clinton High School Attaché Show Choir and Principal Dr. Eddie J. Peasant, forwarded to the Clinton Municipal School Board and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
