Senate Concurrent Resolution 651

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING JOHN C. POELMA II FOR BEING SELECTED AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE JACKSON COUNTY CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

WHEREAS, John C. Poelma II, a resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, has been selected as Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of his distinguished service to the college; and

WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

WHEREAS, John C. Poelma II, an Electronics Technology instructor, has been employed at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past 11 years and has taught for the past 14 years; and

WHEREAS, John C. Poelma II received his Bachelor of Science degree from Park College and a Master of Science degree from The University of Southern Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, John C. Poelma II is a member of the United States Air Force Reserve; First Sergeant 403rd Aeromedical Staging Squadron; National Technical Honor Society; Mississippi Faculty Association; and Skills USA Professional Member/Advisor; and

WHEREAS, John C. Poelma II has received the Annual Community College Lamplighter Conference Award; Keesler Air Force Base Military Instructor of the Quarter Award; serves as a Center Stage Theatre volunteer; Biloxi Little Theatre; Financial Secretary of the Knights of Columbus 9094; and serves as Lector and Eucharistic Minister, Sacred Heart Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, John C. Poelma II is a current doctoral student; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend such outstanding teachers as John C. Poelma II, who has dedicated his career to teaching the young people of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate John C. Poelma II for being selected as Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to him our heartiest wishes of success in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to John C. Poelma II, the President of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
