Senate Concurrent Resolution 619

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE ST. STANISLAUS "ROCK-A-CHAWS" BOYS SOCCER TEAM AND HEAD COACH SCOTT PEPPERMAN FOR WINNING THEIR FIFTH STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the St. Stanislaus "Rock-a-Chaws" Fifth State Soccer Championship looked easy on February 6, 2010, at Arrow Stadium, Clinton, Mississippi, as the Rocks beat West Lauderdale 5-0. The Rock-a-Chaws (14-5-1) put the State 4A title game away with three goals in 15 minutes en route to their third title since 2000; and

WHEREAS, St. Stanislaus has reached the state finals six times since 2000. The Rock-a-Chaws put the game away when Kollin Cannon scored two goals in the first five minutes of the second half. With 23 minutes left to play, freshman Cole Phillips scored an unassisted goal and Jacob Boone capped off the scoring with a goal in the closing minutes; and

WHEREAS, "It was a good win," said St. Stanislaus Head Coach Scott Pepperman, who is in his first year at Stanislaus; and

WHEREAS, the Rocks advanced to the 4A State Championship after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Florence High School, winning the Division 8 4A Soccer Championship. Their final record was 14-5-1 and their District Record was 10-0; and

WHEREAS, senior Henderson Hewes was named to the 2009 Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Soccer Team and the 2009 Sun Herald Mr. Coast Soccer. Henderson Hewes was also named to the 2009 Clarion Ledger All State Soccer First Team. Henderson scored 40 goals for the Rocks this season. Senior Cameron Bosley was named to the 2009 Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Soccer Team. Cameron Bosley was also named to the 2009 Clarion Ledger All State Soccer Second Team; and

WHEREAS, the 2009-2010 St. Stanislaus "Rock-a-Chaws" Soccer Team Roster is: James Kergosien, Jacob Boone, Jacques Chauvin, Cole Phillips, Dustin Ladner, John Ladner, Taylor Thompson, Hunter Beaugez, Josh Gibson, Boomer Scarborough, Philip Prieur, Perre' Carter, Grant Thompson, Garrett Muckleroy, Jake Forstall, Jacob Robinson, Thomas Allard, Alden St. Mary, Evan Ladner, Caleb Kergosien, Matt Renz, Kollin Cannon, Nick Halphen, Daniel Kergosien, Nolan Bevis, Jimmy Donlin, Blaise Gargiulo, Caycee Seal, Corey Hoppen, Wyatt Scott, Gavin Gros, Christian Hymel, Levi Dyer; Head Coach Scott Pepperman; and Athletic Director Stace McRaney; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these student athletes who have brought honor to their school, community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the St. Stanislaus "Rock-a-Chaws" Boys Soccer Team and Head Coach Scott Pepperman for winning their fifth State Championship, and extend our best wishes to the team, parents, coaches, sponsors and staff for future academic and athletic successes.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That this resolution be presented to Coach Pepperman and Principal Paul Verlander for the team and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
