AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 49-7-61, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROHIBIT HUNTING WITH A FIREARM NEAR A DWELLING WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF THE OWNER OR LESSEE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 49-7-61, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
49-7-61. (1) If any person shall hunt within one-fourth (1/4) mile of any church on Sunday while worship services are being held, he shall, on conviction be fined not less than Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) nor more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).
(2) It is unlawful for a person to hunt with a firearm within two hundred (200) yards of a dwelling without the permission of the owner or lessee. A violation of this subsection shall be a Class II violation punishable as provided in Section 49-7-143.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2010.
