AN ACT TO CREATE THE CRIMES OF PUBLIC INTIMIDATION AND PUBLIC RETALIATION AGAINST A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER; TO ENACT PUNISHMENT THEREFOR; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  Public intimidation of a law enforcement officer is the use of violence, force or threats upon a law enforcement officer, or the spouse or child of a law enforcement officer, with the intent to influence the person's conduct in relation to the person's position, employment or duty.

     (2)  Whoever commits the crime of public intimidation of a law enforcement officer shall be fined not more than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) or committed to the custody of the Department of Corrections for not more than five (5) years, or both.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2010.
