A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING PAM LEE UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AS DIRECTOR OF THE CARROLL COUNTY EXTENSION SERVICE AFTER 29 YEARS OF EXEMPLARY AND DEDICATED SERVICE.

     WHEREAS, Pam Lee is retiring as Director of the Carroll County Extension Service effective June 30, 2010, after a remarkable and productive 29-year career; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Lee told the Carroll County Board of Supervisors, "I have loved my job.  It is with both regret and anticipation that I announce my retirement."; and

     WHEREAS, as director, Mrs. Lee holds several posts and participated in several organizations including the Carroll County Friends of the Library, the county development association's A Taste of Soups and the revitalization of the Carroll County Pilgrimage; and

     WHEREAS, having worked across the street from Mrs. Lee for the past 17 years, Carroll County Chancery Clerk Sugar Mullins praised her immeasurable dedication stating, "She is and has been a benefit to the county and she always watched her budget."; and

     WHEREAS, she first arrived in Carroll County in 1977 as a home economics teacher at Carroll Academy, and in 1981 she applied for and received the extension position left open after the retirement of Bervil Watson; and

     WHEREAS, possessing great passion and pride for Carroll County and its people, Mrs. Lee proclaimed, "I can't say enough about its historical importance.  We have the American Indian history, the plantation history, blues and business history all here.  We have the Billups Gas and Jitney Jungle dynasties as well as the Barksdales in Vaiden and the home of the McCains and J.Z. George.  This is a special place."; and

     WHEREAS, knowing the county is losing a true professional when Lee retires, Circuit Clerk Durward Stanton professed, "Pam is an asset to Carroll County.  She constantly tried bringing education programs to the county whether it was gardening or wildlife.  She is a valuable asset to the county."; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Lee, a woman of strong faith, has committed herself to her church, Carrollton Baptist Church, that she credits for her many accomplishments over the years; and

     WHEREAS, she has been lovingly supported in her work by her husband, George; her two sons and daughters-in-law; and her two beautiful grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the long and dedicated education and administrative service of such an exceptional citizen as Pam Lee, who has brought honor to her community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Pam Lee on the occasion of her retirement as the Director of the Carroll County Extension Service after 29 years of exemplary and dedicated service, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Pam Lee and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
