House Resolution 82

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF MS. FANYA TELEPATHIA "TEB" SMITH AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HER PASSING.

WHEREAS, Fanya Telepathia "Teb" Smith, born on November 25, 1975, departed this earthly life to enter into eternal rest with her Heavenly Father, bringing great sorrow and loss to her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, born and raised in Amite County, Mississippi, Ms. Smith was a 1994 graduate of Amite County High School and subsequently received an associate degree in business administration from Southwest Community College in 1995; certification in business clerical from Whitney M. Young Job Corps in Simpsonville, Kentucky, in 1996; state certification in EKH and phlebotomy from Kaylim Career Center in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2005; and certification in day care management from Stratford Career Institute, in 2008; and

WHEREAS, a staunch advocate for the educational success of all children, Ms. Smith devoted several years to the Amite County School System, cultivating and enhancing the minds of those pupils under her tutelage and instruction as a librarian and counselor assistant at Amite County High School, tutor for the 21st Century Community Learning Center and for the Amite County School District Reading Fluency Program, "Reading to Read"; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Smith, a reverent woman of charm and grace who loved the Lord, was independent in the performance of her tasks as an educator and a customer service representative, sharing those quality characteristic traits with all of her contacts; and

WHEREAS, she was a dedicated member of the Mount Salem African Methodist Episcopal Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Donald Johnson, and was committed to her Christian service with the Youth Department and Church School; and

WHEREAS, possessing a keen love for traveling, shopping and football, this passion paled in comparison to the jubilation Ms. Smith received from working with children and providing tutorial assistance to any individual student or group of students in need of extra attention to the intricate details of particular subject areas; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Smith's passing signifies the loss of a devoted individual and close friend who was always available to share an encouraging word and demonstrate unwavering support; and

WHEREAS, though she has now traversed the rivers of life to stand on golden heavenly shores to await the calling of the roll from the Lamb's Book of Life, the legacy of her endearing memory will continue to last in the lives of her survivors; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the life of such a caring and gentle soul as Ms. Smith, whose passing is the holy will of God manifested in the time and sequence predestined by Him before our birth:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life and legacy of Ms. Fanya Telepathia "Teb" Smith and express deepest sympathy to her family and friends upon her passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Ms. Smith and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
