A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CARL KEEN VOCATIONAL CENTER OF CLARKSDALE HIGH SCHOOL ON WINNING THE MANAGEMENT COMPETITION AT THE 2010 MISSISSIPPI PROSTART INVITATIONAL.
WHEREAS, the Carl Keen Vocational Center of Clarksdale High School took top honors in the management competition at the 2010 Mississippi ProStart Invitational; and
WHEREAS, Carl Keen Vocational Center's Management Team competed against 17 teams from 13 schools across the state for hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship money from numerous colleges and culinary schools, and came away with a remarkable $31,000.00 in various scholarships; and
WHEREAS, an impressive and talented group of future leaders, the team demonstrated their knowledge of the restaurant and food service industry by developing a restaurant proposal, delivering a verbal presentation and applying critical thinking skills to challenges that managers face in day-to-day operations; and
WHEREAS, led by their inspiring instructor, Ms. Shirlaurence Fair, Carl Keen Vocational Center's Management Team impressed the judges from leading colleges and universities and industry professionals; and
WHEREAS, representing the State of Mississippi with great pride, the Carl Keen Management Team will venture to Overland Park, Kansas, to compete against 38 other teams from across the country at the National ProStart Invitational that takes place April 30 to May 2, 2010; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend and congratulate excellence when displayed by such exceptionally talented Mississippi youth as the Carl Keen Vocational Center's Management Team who bring great pride to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Carl Keen Vocational Center Management Team of Clarksdale High School on winning the management competition at the 2010 Mississippi ProStart Invitational and extend best wishes for success in all of their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Carl Keen Management Team and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
