House Resolution 50

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CORINTH HIGH SCHOOL WARRIORS BOYS SOCCER TEAM UPON WINNING THE 2010 CLASS 1A/2A/3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Corinth High School Warriors Boys Soccer Team claimed the Class 1A/2A/3A State Championship behind its third straight postseason shutout and 14th of the seasonal soccer campaign with its 5-0 win over Sacred Heart on February 5, 2010; and

WHEREAS, the Corinth Warriors, boasting a 21-1-2 season record, didn't waste any time in taking a quick lead, scoring less than five minutes into the contest and extending its lead to 2-0 a short time later; and

WHEREAS, Corinth, which outscored its opposition 20-1 in the playoffs, ended the year 13-0-2 away from home, and also eclipsed the old school record of 18 wins in a single season; and

WHEREAS, several of the Warriors were substantial playmakers which worked in collaboration to culminate in the team's achievement of this coveted state title, including John Mathis, Estevan Garcia, Cullen Grantham and John Foropoulos; and

WHEREAS, the Corinth High School Warriors Soccer Team is composed of: Taylor Smith, Jackson Cornelius, Stennett Price, Joseph Hurt, John Griffith, Evan Blair, Jordan Parker, Albert Stanley, John Mathis, Estevan Garcia, John Foropoulos, Graham Williams, Bruce Hunt, D.J. Sarallo, Juan Martinez, Dustin Roberts, Drew Kerby, Cullen Grantham, Fletcher Hall, Josh Trest, Ryan Scott, Jake Grier, Kaleb Digby, David Bauer, Alex Sellers, Junior Salinas, Brandon Roberson, Bryson Gant and Jacob Wiggington; and

WHEREAS, the Warriors have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Gregg Parker and Assistant Coach Arch Bullard, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, Coaches Parker and Bullard continue to build upon the legacy of superior play and true sportsmanship in their ability to produce high caliber players and plays, as evidenced by the team's successful season and winning the sport's 2010 state championship title; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this achievement by a group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Corinth High School Warriors Boys Soccer Team and Coaches Gregg Parker and Arch Bullard for winning the 2010 Class 1A/2A/3A State Championship, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future academic and athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Gregg Parker, Assistant Coach Arch Bullard, Principal Russ Elam and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
