A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF MR. FRANK EUBANKS DENNIS, SR., AND EXPRESSING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.
WHEREAS, Frank Eubanks Dennis, Sr., a native and long standing resident of the Magnolia State was called to his eternal home on February 12, 2010, to enter into everlasting rest with his Heavenly Father, causing great sorrow and loss to his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dennis' faith in our Lord and Savior was not only the guidance of his life, but also the heart and soul of his very existence in this world; and
WHEREAS, the son of Jessie Dennis and Beverly Vernon, Mr. Dennis was born on November 13, 1930, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from Lanier High School, Mr. Dennis married his high school sweetheart, Robbie Stingley, and their marriage was blessed with five sons, Frank, Del, Tony, Carlton and Edgar; and
WHEREAS, in 1977, Mr. Dennis married Lainette Neely and three children were born to this union: Andre', Arnold and Frank, II; and
WHEREAS, after his service in the United States Air Force, Mr. Dennis returned to Mississippi with an honorable discharge; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dennis received his undergraduate and master's degrees from Jackson State University; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated schoolteacher and athletic coach, Mr. Dennis worked in the Rankin County School District giving back to the community he so loved; and
WHEREAS, in 1967, Mr. Dennis joined the family business, Service Shoe Repair, and expanded it into Dennis Brother Shoe Repair and Bus Stop Grocery; and
WHEREAS, realizing God's plan and that he needed an eternal Savior, Mr. Dennis accepted the gift of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Cade Chapel M.B. Church; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dennis was a devoted Christian who acted out his faith by serving as a Sunday School teacher for Class 15, a member of the Male Chorus, a member of the Church Finance Committee and a Church Trustee Board member; and
WHEREAS, as a strong Christian man, Mr. Dennis could also be called the "Repair Maintenance Engineer" at Cade Chapel with his art for making sure that all necessary repairs were made and everything was working properly for worship services; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Dennis and Beverly Vernon; sisters, Helen and Hazel; brother, Beverly; wife, Robbie Dennis; and son, Frank, Jr.; and
WHEREAS, though Mr. Dennis has traversed the river of life to now stand on golden heavenly shores, the legacy of his memory will continue on in the lives of his survivors to cherish and honor his memory, including: two brothers, Cleophous Dennis of Jackson, Mississippi, and Percy Dennis of Greenwood, Mississippi; one sister, Gladys Dennis of Los Angeles, California; seven sons, Del Dennis of Houston, Texas, Carlton (Dorothy) Dennis of Memphis, Tennessee, Tony Dennis of Byram, Mississippi, Edgar Dennis of Ridgeland, Mississippi, Andre' Dennis, Arnold Dennis and Frank Dennis, II, all of Jackson, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Del Dennis, Jr., Antonio Creamer, Tiffany Dennis, Lakeisha Hopkins, Felecia Dennis, Whitney Hopkins and Kobe Dennis; five great-grandchildren, DeJa Dennis, Antonio Creamer, Jr., Antwanette Creamer, Elyon Creamer, Shanel Creamer, Brooke Singleton and Delcari Dennis; and a host of other relatives and friends; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the life and legacy of such a truly remarkable and giving individual as Mr. Dennis:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life and legacy of Mr. Frank Eubanks Dennis, Sr., and express sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Frank Eubanks Dennis, Sr., and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
