A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING ANNA TADLOCK, MISS MISSISSIPPI 2009, UPON HER ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS MISS MISSISSIPPI AND WISHING HER SUCCESS AT THE 2010 MISS AMERICA PAGEANT.

     WHEREAS, Miss Anna Tadlock, of Brandon, Mississippi, was crowned Miss Mississippi 2009, on July 18, 2009, after competing against other contestants in the Miss Mississippi Pageant held in Vicksburg; and

     WHEREAS, Miss Tadlock's victory as Miss Mississippi afforded her the opportunity to continue the legacy of representing the southern style, grace and elegance that has been the tradition of each Miss Mississippi to adorn the crown as our state's ambassador at the Miss America Pageant; and

     WHEREAS, an active and outgoing student during her collegiate years as an undergraduate at Mississippi State University, Anna, who graduated with summa cum laude honors from her alma mater, represents the institution as one of its brightest and most celebrated alumni; and

     WHEREAS, this former Miss New South 2009 was actively involved in other Mississippi State University campus activities and community service projects, including membership in the Chi Omega Sorority, service as an active Road Runner, participation in the "Step into the Maroon" recruiting commercial, all while pursuing her degree in communications with an emphasis on public relations; and

     WHEREAS, Miss Tadlock's beauty, poise, grace and experience overwhelmingly impressed the panel of judges, thereby enabling her to capture the 2009 title as Miss Mississippi's pageantry queen; and

     WHEREAS, after four preceding attempts at the Magnolia State title, in becoming the 2009 Miss Mississippi, Anna learned to never give up on goals in life and to find her highest potential; and

     WHEREAS, as the 2009 Miss Mississippi, Anna, who is an ardent advocate of using music as a positive influence on children's education, will travel the state promoting her platform of using the arts and music as a tool for a child's early development; and

     WHEREAS, a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson under the leadership of the Reverend Dr. Stan Buckley, Anna is very active in the church, both as a worship leader and as a leader in a 20's single ministry in a Bible study called "Static"; and

     WHEREAS, Anna's future goals include plans to obtain a master's degree in education and to marry and start a family within ten years, maintaining a balance for her family while pursuing her dreams of a career at the same time; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, as evidenced by such a  beautiful and talented young lady of distinction as Miss Anna Tadlock, who has brought honor to her community, her university and her state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Anna Tadlock, Miss Mississippi 2009, for the contributions she has made as ambassador for our state and extend best wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors, including that of representing our state at the 2010 Miss America Pageant.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Miss Mississippi Anna Tadlock and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
