House Concurrent Resolution 115

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE SIMPSON COUNTY CATTLEMEN'S ASSOCIATION UPON ITS WINNING TOP HONORS AT THE DIXIE NATIONAL FIRST SOUTH FARM CREDIT STEAK GRILLING CONTEST HELD ON FEBRUARY 13, 2010.

WHEREAS, the Simpson County Cattlemen's Association took top honors at the Dixie National First South Farm Credit Steak Grilling Contest held on February 13, 2010; and

WHEREAS, prevailing in the category of showmanship as well as achieving the grand prize, the members of the grilling team displayed a steer with sub-primal cuts outlined on the animal's side, then showcased samples of the retail cuts in a meat case and finally presented delicious grilled steaks to a family sitting down for dinner in the concluding phase of the competition; and

WHEREAS, the team of superior steak grillers was comprised of Price Wallace, Joe Magee, Marsha Magee, Britt Magee, Archie Miller and Heath Albritton; and

WHEREAS, the Mississippi Cattlemen's Association (MCA) represents over 3,800 members and has a long history of dedication and service to its members and toward the welfare of the beef cattle industry since 1946; and

WHEREAS, MCA was instrumental in establishing the Dixie National Livestock Show which today has grown into one of the premier livestock shows in the United States; and

WHEREAS, the sponsor of the steak grilling contest, First South Farm Credit of Ridgeland, Mississippi, has provided loans for agriculture production, agribusiness and for the purchase or refinancing of land for over 75 years, and is the Farm Credit system's largest lending institution in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend and congratulate excellence, especially when displayed by a team of skilled Mississippi citizens such as the steak grilling team from the Simpson County Cattlemen's Association:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Simpson County Cattlemen's Association upon winning top honors at the Dixie National First South Farm Credit Steak Grilling Contest held on February 13, 2010, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Price Wallace, Joe Magee, Marsha Magee, Britt Magee, Archie Miller, Heath Albritton and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
