House Concurrent Resolution 112

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MINISTERIAL SERVICE, LEADERSHIP AND SPIRITUAL MERIT OF RIALS CREEK UNITED METHODIST CHURCH ON THE OCCASION OF ITS 150TH ANNIVERSARY HOMECOMING CELEBRATION ON MAY 30, 2010.

WHEREAS, with 150 years of spiritual radiance, Rials Creek United Methodist Church in Mendenhall, Mississippi, has provided holy leadership in the community where it serves as an example of Christ's undying love to the entire citizenry of the State of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, on May 30, 2010, Rials Creek Methodist Church congregation will celebrate its anniversary in a homecoming commemoration by opening with morning worship services followed by a feast among members and an anniversary celebration program; and

WHEREAS, Rials Creek Methodist Church's 150th Anniversary Homecoming Celebration is a magnificent example of God's love and what happens when people are firmly rooted in belief and faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; and

WHEREAS, Rials Creek Methodist Church has stood for belief in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and in doing so it has become the very essence of what our Lord Jesus Christ brought to this earth by holding onto his biblical commands, and showing an unselfish love to those in need, including nonbelievers; and

WHEREAS, the leadership of Rials Creek has built its church upon the Rock found in Matthew 16:16-19 and is known for open doors that radiate an unbiased love and hope to both Christians and nonbelievers alike; and

WHEREAS, known for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and encouraging its members to walk by faith in Jesus and not by the world's false hope as it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:7, Rials Creek Methodist Church is a beacon of light in a dark world; and

WHEREAS, Rials Creek Methodist ministry seeks the very heart of God's commands by following Jesus' great commission and leading many lost souls to Christ as is stated in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life"; and

WHEREAS, an example of God's love is shown in the worldwide growth of churches of faith in Jesus and what the Bible promises by astonishing numbers even in these times of social and economic decline in America; and

WHEREAS, it is these biblically rooted churches, such as Rials Creek Methodist Church, whose role is to serve the lost and those in need while preparing believers to be the hands and feet of our Lord Jesus Christ until his glorious return, as affirmed in 1 John 1:50; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize such outstanding Godly churches that have been created by God so many lost souls may know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the ministerial service, leadership and spiritual merit of Rials Creek United Methodist Church upon the occasion of its 150th Anniversary Homecoming Celebration on May 30, 2010, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of its future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Rials Creek Methodist Church, the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
