WHEREAS, the Bronze Star Medal is awarded to a person who, while serving in any capacity in or with the Armed Forces of the United States and receiving imminent danger pay, distinguished himself or herself by heroic or meritorious achievement or service in connection with military operations against an armed enemy or while engaged in military operations involving conflict with opposing armed forces; and

WHEREAS, in the early 1980s, Mr. Pellegrini and his family retired to Diamondhead, Mississippi, and quickly became active members in the community by joining Annunciation Catholic Church and the Annunciation Men's Club and by serving on the Diamondhead Golf Tournament Committee, as Chairman of the 55 Alive Campaign and as Chaplain for the Diamondhead VFW Post 2880; and

WHEREAS, having lost a home in Diamondhead to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and his wife to cancer in 2009, Mr. Pellegrini, a man of strong faith, has not allowed these significant life-changing events to diminish his zeal for serving others; and
