AN ACT TO EXEMPT ATTORNEY MEMBERS OF THE MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE, LEGISLATIVE ATTORNEYS AND THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR FROM CERTAIN CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The Lieutenant Governor and all attorney members of the Mississippi Legislature who certify their membership in the Mississippi Senate or the Mississippi House of Representatives and all attorneys employed by the Mississippi House of Representatives and the Mississippi State Senate shall be exempt from continuing legal education requirements except for the annual one (1) hour of ethics continuing legal education.  The Commission on Continuing Legal Education shall include this exemption in Rule 2 of the State of Mississippi Rules and Regulations for Mandatory Continuing Legal Education and the regulations promulgated by the commission shall be revised to reflect this exemption.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2010.
