AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 19-5-207, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REQUIRE WATER, SEWER, GARBAGE DISPOSAL, AND FIRE DISTRICTS TO PUBLISH DETAILED ITEMIZED REPORTS OF ALL REVENUES, COSTS AND EXPENSES FOR THE PREVIOUS FISCAL YEAR IN A NEWSPAPER; TO REQUIRE THAT AN ELECTRONIC COPY OF THE DETAILED BUDGET, WHICH IS CAPABLE OF BEING DOWNLOADED FROM A COMPUTER, IS FILED WITH THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS CREATING SUCH DISTRICT AND THE STATE AUDITOR; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 19-5-207, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
19-5-207. Within ninety (90) days after the close of each fiscal year, the board of commissioners shall publish in a newspaper of general circulation in the county a sworn statement showing a detailed, itemized report of all revenues, costs and expenses incurred by the district * * * for the fiscal year just ended, a statement of the water and sewer rates being charged, and a detailed statement of the method used in arriving at such rates. Such statement and an electronic copy of the itemized budget, which is capable of being downloaded from a computer, shall also be filed with the board of supervisors creating the district and the State Auditor.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2010.
