A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REVEREND JAMES EDWARD SANDY FOR HIS 35 YEARS OF FAITHFUL SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF SOUTHAVEN AND DESOTO COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, AT HERITAGE CHRISTIAN LIFE CHURCH.

     WHEREAS, Reverend James Edward Sandy has faithfully served and ministered to the people of Southaven, Mississippi, and DeSoto County for 35 years; and

     WHEREAS, in addition, Reverend Sandy has also served the Mississippi District United Pentecostal Church International in various capacities, including 31 years serving as a district official on the Mississippi District Board.  He is Pastor of the Heritage Christian Life Church, which is proud of his inspirational services; and

     WHEREAS, his ministry history is an impressive record:

     ·  Assistant to Pastor N.E. Hosch, West Memphis, AR;

     ·  Assistant to Pastor H.D. Hansbro, Memphis, TN;

     ·  Assistant to Pastor O.W. Williams, Houston, TX;

     ·  Assistant to Pastor Bobby McCool, West Memphis, AR;

     ·  Founding Pastor of Heritage Christian Life Center,

        Southaven, MS;

     ·  Evangelist/Conference Speaker in United States and abroad;

     ·  Hosted numerous trips to the Holy Land;

     ·  Hosted mission trips to Mexico;

     ·  Graduate of Texas Bible College, Th.B.;

     ·  Honorary degree, Jackson College of Ministries;

     ·  DeSoto County Emergency Management Planner;

     ·  Ministerial Licensing Seminar Teacher, 23 years;

     ·  Chairman of Outreach Services International Relief

        Committee which coordinated relief efforts for victims

        of the Hurricane Katrina disaster; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we join the congregation at Heritage Christian Life Church and the citizens of Southaven in recognizing the service of a community and civic leader:

     NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Senate, that we do hereby commend Reverend James Edward Sandy for his 35 years of faithful service to the people of Southaven and DeSoto County, Mississippi, at Heritage Christian Life Church and extend our best wishes to James and his family on this auspicious occasion.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Reverend Sandy and his family and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
