A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DR. CAROLE B. HANEY UPON HER RETIREMENT AFTER 26 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE NORTH MISSISSIPPI REGIONAL CENTER.

     WHEREAS, Dr. Carole B. Haney is retiring from North Mississippi Regional Center after 26 years of outstanding and dedicated service to the center and its clients; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Haney, who has served as Director of North Mississippi Regional Center since 1986, began employment with the center in 1981 where she has faithfully served individuals with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities; and

     WHEREAS, knowing the importance of receiving an education, Dr. Haney earned both her undergraduate degree in business and her  Master of Special Education with honors from the University of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Haney, after receiving her degrees, taught special education in Oxford, Batesville and Jackson for seven years where she used her kind spirit, as well as her profound teaching abilities to educate students who were in need; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Haney, after lovingly teaching special education students, furthered her education and earned a Juris Doctorate, with honors, in 1981 from the Mississippi College School of Law; and

     WHEREAS, throughout her productive career, Dr. Haney has participated and graduated from several prestigious programs such as the Stennis Leadership Program, Leadership Mississippi and Leadership Lafayette, and she has served as president of the Association of Public Developmental Disabilities Administrators when Mississippi was selected as National Chapter of the Year; and

     WHEREAS, Dr. Haney has also received several prominent awards such as the Paul D. Cotten Leadership Award and the Bradley Sanders Service Award; and

     WHEREAS, as a testament of her leadership skills and proficient abilities, Dr. Haney continues to make a positive impact by serving as President of the Delta Gamma Fraternity House Corporation Board at Ole Miss and by serving on the Special Olympics State Board, while simultaneously making monumental contributions to the Oxford community; and

     WHEREAS, throughout her career Dr. Haney has been lovingly supported by her husband of nearly 35 years, Dr. Hal Haney, and their wonderful children, Hunter and Whitney; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend an outstanding Mississippian such as Dr. Carole B. Haney who has given her life to public service by making sure that those in need receive the proper attention, care and services, which are needed to live more fruitful lives:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do commend and congratulate Dr. Carole B. Haney upon her retirement after 26 years of dedicated service to the North Mississippi Regional Center, and we wish her much success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. Carole B. Haney and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
