TO THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:

GOVERNOR’S VETO MESSAGE FOR HOUSE BILL 1338

I am returning House Bill Number 1338: "AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 57‑75‑15, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO EXTEND UNTIL JULY 1, 2008, THE TIME WITHIN WHICH BONDS MAY BE ISSUED FOR CERTAIN PROJECTS UNDER THE MISSISSIPPI MAJOR ECONOMIC IMPACT ACT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES." without my approval, and assign the following reasons for my veto.

I have already signed into law Senate Bill 3215, which contained the language necessary to meet the purpose of House Bill 1338. As the Legislature considered Senate Bill 3215, the leadership of the House and Senate requested I sign Senate Bill 3215 and veto House Bill 1338. For these reasons, I urge the members to reject House Bill 1338 and sustain the veto.
