AMENDMENT NO 1 PROPOSED TO

Senate Concurrent Resolution No.  572

     Amend by striking all after the resolving clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

 

That we do hereby direct the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning to form a committee comprised of four alumni of Alcorn State University, three faculty members of Alcorn State University and two members of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning to select a building presently on the campus of Alcorn State University to name in honor of Dr. Rudolph Waters, retired Vice President of Alcorn State University.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That after the building is selected, Alcorn State University is urged to prepare a distinctive plaque to be placed in a prominent place within the facility, which states the background, accomplishments and service to the university by Dr. Rudolph Waters.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the committee selected under this resolution shall report to the Chairmen of the Public Property Committees of the Senate and House on or before December 1, 2007, on its progress in implementing this designation.

     Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

 

     A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING TO FORM A COMMITTEE TO SELECT A BUILDING ON THE NATCHEZ CAMPUS OF ALCORN STATE UNIVERSITY TO NAME IN HONOR OF DR. RUDOLPH WATERS.
