AMENDMENT NO 1 TO COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO 1 PROPOSED TO

House Bill No. 1185

     AMEND by inserting the following section after line 463 and renumber succeeding sections accordingly:

     SECTION *.  (1)  The Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks may lease state park lands within Hugh White State Park and authorize the lessee to construct, maintain and operate overnight accommodation facilities and recreational facilities.

     (2)  The lease must be approved by the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.  Before approving Hugh White State Park lands for lease and development, the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks must make an affirmative finding and enter upon its official minutes a statement that the development of such land will not be incompatible with the outdoor recreational purposes and opportunities existing at Hugh White State Park.

     (3)  Facilities to be developed on leased park lands shall be open and available for use by the general public and of such a nature as to promote outdoor recreation or complement the recreational opportunities available at the park.

     (4)  Funds from such leases shall be deposited into the "Mississippi Park System Fund" under Section 55-3-41.

     FURTHER, AMEND the title on line 11, after the semicolon insert the following:

TO AUTHORIZE THE DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE, FISHERIES AND PARKS TO LEASE STATE PARK LANDS WITHIN HUGH WHITE STATE PARK FOR DEVELOPMENT;
