A RESOLUTION TO COMMEND SENATOR LYNN POSEY FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE IN THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE.
WHEREAS, Senator Lynn Posey is retiring from the Mississippi Senate to run for state district office after serving 20 years in the Senate; and
WHEREAS, Senator Posey is a man of integrity and hard work and there is an acknowledged respect for the public and business endeavors of our esteemed colleague and avid outdoorsman; and
WHEREAS, Senator Posey represents the 36th District, which comprises Claiborne, Copiah and part of Hinds and Jefferson Counties. He has served as Chairman of the Wildlife, Fisheries & Parks Committee for 3 terms where he is considered a leader of the sportsmen community in our state. He also serves on the Appropriations, Business & Financial Institutions, Judiciary B, Labor, Municipalities, Public Utilities and PEER Committees; and
WHEREAS, Senator Posey serves on the Executive Council of the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses, which is a high-profile information exchange group of legislators which advances pro-sportsmen's legislation on a national basis; and
WHEREAS, Senator Posey is a banker who attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Master's degree in Mississippi Public Policy and Administration from Mississippi State University and graduated from the School of Banking of the University of Mississippi. His local activities include: Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, the Small Farmers Advisory Committee, the local hospital Board of Trustees, the local library Board of Trustees, the Union Church Volunteer Fire Department, the Southwest Mississippi Local Planning Council, the Mississippi Farm Bureau, the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Boy Scout Advisory Council. He is a Mason and member of the Mississippi Young Bankers and the NRA; and
WHEREAS, Senator Posey was born February 23, 1955, in Brookhaven, Mississippi. He is married to the former Kathy Singletary and is of the Baptist faith. The couple has 2 children: Hunter and Kaitlyn; and
WHEREAS, Lynn was a source of energy and spirit for the Senate, often taking on difficult subjects and concerns for the leadership, and his efforts were always channeled toward what was best for our state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and recognize Senator Lynn Posey for his distinguished service to the Mississippi Senate and to the people of his Senate District and state, and we wish Lynn and his wife, Kathy, and family much success in their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Senator Lynn Posey.
