A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE SENATE RULES BY ADDING SENATE RULE NO. 35D TO DIRECT THE COMMITTEE ON RULES TO CONTRACT WITH A HIGH-SPEED WIRELESS INTERNET SERVICE TO BROADCAST FLOOR PROCEEDINGS OF THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That the Rules of the Mississippi Senate are hereby amended by adding Senate Rule No. 35D, to read as follows:
35D. Beginning with the 2007 Regular Session, the Committee on Rules is directed to contract with Mississippi Authority for Educational Television, or another appropriate service, to broadcast the regular floor proceedings of the Mississippi Senate on high-speed wireless Internet. Cameras used in making such broadcasts may only be allowed to show the Senator speaking at the podium and the Presiding Officer. Reporters and technicians to effectuate such broadcasts may be admitted to the chamber for this purpose, but no camera, apparatus or procedure shall be used which will interfere with the usual procedure of the Senate, and all broadcasting shall be done from areas reserved or set aside for such activities by the Committee on Rules.
