A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING SERGEANT JAMES TAYLOR WILLIAMS UPON BEING SELECTED MISSISSIPPI STATE TROOPER'S ASSOCIATION 2005 "TROOPER OF THE YEAR."
WHEREAS, the Mississippi State Trooper's Association proudly bestowed its highest honor, Trooper of the Year for 2005, to Sergeant James Taylor Williams (D43), of the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) Troop D, Greenwood District, on May 15, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Williams, who has been a member of the MHP since graduating patrol school on December 8, 1980, has remained on active duty, exemplifying a dedication that makes him a great representative for all troopers to pattern themselves after; and
WHEREAS, a Field Training Officer and a member of the Trooper's Association Board, Sergeant Williams volunteers his time to represent the MHP as security for the Delta State University football team, where he is just as committed to the team's safety as he is to the thoroughness of an investigation or working an accident; and
WHEREAS, born and reared in Winona, Mississippi, where he continues to reside, Sergeant Williams' journey to State Trooper of the Year was on the heels of being selected Trooper of the Year for Troop D; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Williams, humbled by having been named recipient of the prestigious honor, hopes that his experience coupled with his service will be imparted to the younger troopers as they continue to make the MHP not only the top law enforcement agency in the state but in the nation; and
WHEREAS, throughout his career, Sergeant Williams has shared the support, respect and adoration of his family: wife of 36 years, Rebecca Clark Williams; children, James, Jr., Tim and Tammy Jo; and grandchildren, Dalton, Paige and Tylon; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend the excellence and valor of outstanding law enforcement personnel such as Sergeant Williams, who day after day lays his life on the line to ensure the safety, health and well-being of the citizens of our great state as well as those outside our borders who traverse within:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Sergeant James Taylor Williams upon his selection as the 2005 Mississippi State Trooper's Association Trooper of the Year, express our gratitude and appreciation for his selfless dedication to ensuring the safety of all Mississippians and extend warmest wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Sergeant James T. Williams, MHP Troop D, Greenwood District, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
