AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE USE OF CAMERAS, PHOTOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT OR VIDEO RECORDING DEVICES FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENFORCING TRAFFIC RULES AND REGULATIONS WITHIN A MUNICIPALITY; TO PROVIDE THAT SUCH PROHIBITION SHALL NOT APPLY TO THE USE OF SUCH EQUIPMENT WHEN IT IS AFFIXED TO OR MOUNTED IN AN AUTHORIZED LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The governing authorities of any municipality may not authorize law enforcement officers of the municipality, and law enforcement officers of a municipality may not employ or use, any camera, photographic equipment or video recording device for the purpose of enforcing speed limits or other traffic rules and regulations on the roads, streets or highways within the municipality except when such equipment is affixed to or mounted in an authorized law enforcement vehicle.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2007.
