AN ACT TO PROHIBIT POSSESSION OF SUB-WOOFERS IN EXCESS OF 100HERTZ IN MOTOR VEHICLES; TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS; TO AMEND SECTION 97-35-9, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, IN CONFORMITY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  It shall be unlawful to possess a sub-woofer in a motor vehicle in excess of 100hertz.  A person who violates the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined not less than Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or imprisoned for not more than sixty (60) days, or both.

     SECTION 2.  Section 97-35-9, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     97-35-9.  Except as otherwise provided in Section 1 of this act, a person who willfully disturbs the peace of any family or person by an explosion of gunpowder or other explosive substance, or by loud or unusual noise, or by any tumultuous or offensive conduct, shall be punished by fine or imprisonment, or both; the fine not to exceed One Hundred Dollars ($100.00), and the imprisonment not to exceed six (6) months in the county jail.

     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2007.
