House Bill 1256

AN ACT TO REQUIRE ANY NURSING HOME, PERSONAL CARE HOME, ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY, RETIREMENT HOME OR LONG-TERM CARE FACILITY OPERATING WITHIN THE STATE TO PURCHASE AND MAINTAIN A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF LIABILITY INSURANCE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Any owner or operator of any nursing home, personal care home, assisted living facility, retirement home or long-term care facility operating within the state shall purchase and maintain not less than One Million Dollars ($1,000.000.00) in liability insurance for each nursing home, personal care home, assisted living facility, retirement home or long-term care facility located within the state.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2007.
