House Bill 1054

AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE PLANTING OF A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF ACORN-BEARING OR BERRY-BEARING TREES FOR EVERY ONE ACRE OF PINE SEEDLINGS PLANTED; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSE.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  For the purpose of providing food necessary for the welfare of wild animals, the owner or owners of forest lands shall be required to plant five (5) acorn-bearing or berry-bearing trees for every one (1) acre of pine seedlings planted.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2007.
