AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR A PAY INCREASE FOR ALL FULL-TIME STATE EMPLOYEES; TO DIRECT THE APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS NECESSARY TO PROVIDE FOR THE PAY INCREASES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) The Variable Compensation Plan shall be adjusted to ensure that, beginning on July 1, 2007:
(a) All full-time state employees, except for the sworn officers of the Department of Public Safety and the Bureau of Narcotics, shall receive a pay increase equal to the realignment component of the Variable Compensation Plan or One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00), whichever is greater; and
(b) All full-time sworn officers of the Department of Public Safety and the Bureau of Narcotics shall receive a pay increase equal to Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00).
(2) The Legislature shall appropriate the funds necessary to provide for the pay increases provided for in this act.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2007.
