AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT IT IS UNLAWFUL FOR THE OPERATOR OF ANY MOTOR VEHICLE, FOR THE PURPOSE OF EVADING DETECTION OF A CRIMINAL VIOLATION, TO AVOID A DRIVER'S LICENSE OR SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT; TO PRESCRIBE A PENALTY FOR A VIOLATION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) It is unlawful for the operator of any motor vehicle, for the purpose of evading detection of a criminal violation, to stop, turn, flee or otherwise avoid driving through or around a driver's license or sobriety checkpoint set up by a law enforcement officer or law enforcement agency.
(2) Any person who violates subsection (1) of this section shall be punished, upon conviction, by a fine of not more than Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00).
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2007.
