A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. LILLIE BEATRICE KNIGHT IRVING OF ADAMS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, ON THE OCCASION OF HER 100TH BIRTHDAY.

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Lillie Beatrice Knight Irving was born on September 11, 1906, in Adams County, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, she married Reverend Monroe J. Irving on January 17, 1933, and she has 10 children (Alonzo Irving, Johnny Irving, Mitchell McCallister, Ruth I. Shaw, Willie Irving, Albert Irving, Sr., Rosa I. Demby, Audrey I. Dean, Bertha I. Gilmore, and Queen I. Thompson); 42 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren, 28 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Irving was educated at Wickland Elementary School, Brumfield High School and Alcorn State University.  She is a retired teacher with 46 years of service from Tate Baptist Church Public School, Wickland Elementary Public School, Central Elementary School and the Liddell Elementary School; and

     WHEREAS, she has the following affiliations:  Charter Member of Evelyn Lillie K. Amaranth Court #3, Past Matron and O.E.S. Oldest Charter Member of Will Foster Chapter #10, Lifelong Member and Past Grand Matron of W.W.W.M.T. Grant, Jr., Grand Chapter of O.E.S., Director of Stanton Senior Citizen Group, Member of Natchez Senior Citizen Group, Member of Greater Mt. Bethel B.C. Missionary Society, Retired Church Clerk of 33 years and Deaconess of Greater Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, and she is a lifelong Baptist; and

     WHEREAS, she has received the following awards and honors:  Oldest Attending Member Award for Lifelong Services and Commitment from the Will Foster Chapter #10 O.E.S., the Oldest Member and Outstanding Service from Greater Mt. Bethel B.C. Family, Eldest Chartered Member H.L. Lillie K. Irving from Evelyn Lillie K. Court #3, and Outstanding Community Leader from the citizens of the Cannonsburg Community; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this landmark event in the life of this remarkable citizen and educator:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Lillie Beatrice Knight Irving of Adams County, Mississippi, on the occasion of her 100th birthday, and extend to her and her family our best wishes.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Mrs. Irving.
