AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 833, LOCAL AND PRIVATE LAWS OF 1982, TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE SIMPSON COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT TO SELL, LEASE, TRADE, EXCHANGE OR OTHERWISE DISPOSE OF SITES LOCATED WITHIN ITS INDUSTRIAL PARK FOR CALL AND DATA INFORMATION CENTERS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Chapter 833, Local and Private Laws of 1982, is amended as follows:

     Section 1.  (1)  For the purposes set forth in subsection (2), the Board of Supervisors of Simpson County, Mississippi, may, in its discretion, expend, and authorize the Trustees of the Simpson County Economic Development District to expend any monies in the county treasury available for economic and industrial development.

     (2)  Such monies may be expended for the acquisition, development and improvement of real estate within Simpson County, Mississippi, to be used for an industrial park or parks, and for such purposes the Simpson County Economic Development District shall have the authority to own, hold, maintain, control and develop such real estate; to engage in works of internal improvement therefor, including, but not limited to, construction, or contracting for the construction of streets, roads, railroads, spur tracks, site improvements, water, sewerage, drainage, pollution control and other related facilities necessary or required for industrial use and development of industrial park complexes; to acquire, purchase, install, lease, construct, own, hold, equip, control, maintain, use, operate and repair other structures and facilities necessary and convenient for the planning, development, use, operation and maintenance of such industrial park or parks, including, but not limited to, utility installations, elevators, compressors, warehouses, buildings, and air, rail and other transportation terminals and pollution control facilities.

     (3)  The Trustees of the Simpson County Economic Development District are authorized and empowered to sell, lease, trade, exchange or otherwise dispose of * * * sites situated within industrial parks to individuals, firms or corporations, public or private, for industrial, warehouse and other use, including, but not limited to, call and data information centers, upon such terms and conditions, and for such considerations, with such safeguards as will best promote and protect the public interest, convenience and necessity, and to execute deeds, leases, contracts, easements and other legal instruments necessary or convenient therefor.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
