Senate Amendments to House Bill No. 214
TO THE CLERK OF THE HOUSE:
THIS IS TO INFORM YOU THAT THE SENATE HAS ADOPTED THE AMENDMENTS SET OUT BELOW:
AMENDMENT NO. 1
AMEND by inserting the following after line 20 and renumbering subsequent sections:
SECTION *. No local school board, school superintendent or school principal shall prohibit a public school classroom teacher from discussing and answering questions from individual students on the issue of flaws or problems which may exist in Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution and the existence of other theories of evolution, including, but not limited to, the Intelligent Design explanation of the origin of life.
FURTHER, amend the title by inserting the following after line 3:
TO PROVIDE THAT NO LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD, SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT OR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL SHALL PROHIBIT A TEACHER FROM DISCUSSING AND ANSWERING QUESTIONS ON THE ISSUE OF FLAWS OR PROBLEMS WHICH MAY EXIST IN DARWIN'S THEORY OF EVOLUTION AND THE EXISTENCE OF OTHER THEORIES OF EVOLUTION, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE INTELLIGENT DESIGN EXPLANATION OF THE ORIGIN OF LIFE;
