Senate Resolution 8

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MADISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL LADY JAGUARS VOLLEYBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING 2005 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) CLASS II STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, Madison Central High School Lady Jaguars Volleyball Team finished the 2005 season with a remarkable record of 33 wins and 0 losses; and ranked number one in the state, winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class II State Championship; and

WHEREAS, throughout the regular season and playoffs, the Lady Jaguars fought and defeated many well-contended teams, and winning the Tupelo Volleyfest Tournament, Southaven Volleyball Invitational Tournament, Madison Central Invitational Tournament and clinching the Division 3-Class II District Title; and WHEREAS, recognized by the Madison County School Board for winning the Class II State Championship, certificates of accomplishment were presented to the following team members: Captain Ashton Woodward, Captain Lauren Sledge, Amanda Ramsey, Brittany Wright, Kayla Pixler, Chelsea Dickerson, Jessica Laxter, and Sarah Salem; and

WHEREAS, recognized by the Mississippi Association of Coaches as the 2005 All-Star Volleyball Players: Ashton Woodward, Lauren Sledge, Amanda Ramsey, Brittany Wright, and Kayla Pixler; and

WHEREAS, Madison Central High School Lady Jaguars have been superbly coached and inspired by second year Head Coach Kristina Garrett and Assistant Coach Jackie Suggett, who have broadened the Lady Jaguars' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Jaguars have been supported in their athletic endeavors and can attribute much of their success to the many parents, fans and supporters whose moral and spiritual encouragement have remained fervent throughout the season; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Jaguars have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Madison Central High School; and

WHEREAS; it is with great pride that we recognize the achievements of this group of students athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Madison Central High School Lady Jaguars Volleyball Team and their coaches for their perfect 2005 season, for winning the MHSAA Class II State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Madison Central High School, Coaches Kristina Garrett and Jackie Suggett, all members of the varsity volleyball team and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
