Senate Concurrent Resolution 637

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING ROBERT (BOB) LOMENICK OF POTTS CAMP, MISSISSIPPI, FOR BEING NAMED THE "ALUMNUS OF THE YEAR" BY THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI SCHOOL OF PHARMACY.

     WHEREAS, Robert (Bob) Hudson Lomenick of Potts Camp, Mississippi, has been named the "Alumnus of the Year" by the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to this honor, Governor Haley Barbour has announced the appointment of Mr. Lomenick to the Mississippi Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee of the Division of Medicaid; and

     WHEREAS, the committee conducts in-depth evaluation of available drugs and recommends appropriate drugs for preferred status, as well as evaluates drugs and drug classes for safety and overall therapeutic and cost value; and

     WHEREAS, "Bob will do an excellent job serving the people of Mississippi," Governor Barbour said.  "His medical and pharmaceutical experience will prove valuable to this committee, and I am confident he is a good choice to fill this position"; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Lomerick is the owner of Tyson Drug Co., Inc.  He was appointed to the Health Care Commission by former Governor Ronnie Musgrove in 2001 and the Medicaid Technical Advisory Group by Governor Barbour in 2004; and

     WHEREAS, he is a member of the National Community Pharmacy Association, Mississippi Pharmacy and Independent Pharmacy Association, American Diabetes Association and American Association of Diabetes Educators; and

     WHEREAS, Bob Lomenick graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy in 1977.  He and his wife, Penny, have three children:  Robert, John Travis and Erin; and

     WHEREAS, there is no other pharmacist in the State of Mississippi who is more involved in protecting pharmacist's rights and business practices than Bob Lomenick.  Bob spends many hours of his free time traveling the State of Mississippi promoting pharmacy and trying to help the profession that has given him so much and the profession that he truly believes in and holds dear to his heart; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the work and civic contributions of this dedicated health care professional:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Robert (Bob) Lomenick of Potts Camp, Mississippi, for being named the "Alumnus of the Year" by the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy and for his contributions to his profession and state, and extend to him and his family the best wishes of the Legislature in their future successes.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Bob Lomenick and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
