A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING HUGH O'BRIAN AND THE HUGH O'BRIAN YOUTH LEADERSHIP ORGANIZATION FOR DISTINGUISHED AND HUMANITARIAN SERVICE TO THE YOUTH OF MISSISSIPPI.

     WHEREAS, Hugh O'Brian, through a long and distinguished career as a television, motion picture and theater actor, has captured the hearts of many Americans and Mississippians; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. O'Brian entertained all of America during his seven-year series portraying the title character of the Wyatt Earp television western from 1955 to 1963; and

     WHEREAS, despite his lasting impression on stage, television and the silver screen, his most lasting and enduring legacy has been the creation, growth and development of Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership; and

     WHEREAS, Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership, through statewide, national and international programs, has exposed high school sophomores to leadership, service and inspirational opportunities through annual leadership conferences and ongoing alumni activities and programs, annually reaching approximately 15,000 students in the United States and beyond; and

     WHEREAS, Mississippi Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership is celebrating its 25th year of youth leadership training, having more than 5,000 youth of our state participate in Mississippi's HOBY Program; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the contributions of this dedicated youth leadership civic organization:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Hugh O'Brian on his distinguished acting career and show our appreciation for his dedication to the youth of our state and nation through the establishment of, and lifetime participation in, Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That Mr. O'Brian and Mississippi Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership be congratulated on their 25th anniversary of training the youth of our state to be better leaders, citizens and public servants.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Hugh O'Brian and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
