House Resolution 107

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CORINTH HIGH SCHOOL WARRIORS TENNIS TEAM ON WINNING THE 2005 STATE 3A CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Corinth High School Warriors Tennis Team brought home a well-deserved state title in 2005 when the team captured the State 3A Tennis Championship; and

WHEREAS, Haley Huggins played extremely well to win the 3A Girls' Singles Championship, while Courtney Coleman and Anna Lambert played exceptionally well together to bring home the 3A Girls' Doubles Championship; and

WHEREAS, several individual members of the team -- Haley Huggins, Courtney Coleman, Anna Lambert, David Palmer and Catherine Simmons -- were recognized for their superior play this season by being selected All-State; and

WHEREAS, the other dedicated and hard-working members of the Warriors Tennis Team, Ward Bynum and Tyler Quinn (Boys' Doubles) and Luke McCullen (Boys' Singles), performed well during the 2005 season; and

WHEREAS, the Warriors have been superbly coached and inspired by Coaches Lynn Wood, Chris Coleman and Mrs. Corrine Pierce, who have motivated and challenged the team members to strive for their best; and

WHEREAS, the 2005 Warriors have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Corinth High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate the Corinth High School Warriors Tennis Team and their coaches, Lynn Wood, Chris Coleman and Mrs. Corrine Pierce, for winning the 2005 Class 3A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IF FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Corinth High School, Coach Lynn Wood, Coach Chris Coleman and Coach Corrine Pierce, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
