A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE CORINTH HIGH SCHOOL WARRIORS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM ON WINNING THE STATE 3A CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Corinth High School Warriors Cross Country Team brought home yet another state title when the young men captured the 2005 State 3A Championship; and
WHEREAS, five of the Warriors finished in the top ten overall at the state meet held at Choctaw Hills on the campus of Mississippi College, including Andy Jones, who crossed the finish line with a time of 18:42.25 on the 5K course and landed a fifth place finish overall, Jordan Rickman (18:47.42), Spencer Rickman (19:06.80), Russell Scott (19:08.01) and Drew Caveness (19:14.00); and
WHEREAS, several of the Warriors were recognized for their superior performances, including the selection of Andy Jones as All-State and Captain and the naming of Jordan Rickman, Spencer Rickman, Russell Scott and Drew Caveness as All-State; and
WHEREAS, the entire Warriors Cross Country Team -- Andy Jones, Jordan Rickman, Spencer Rickman, Russell Scott, Drew Caveness, Graham Williams, Luke McCullen, Tyler Smith, Colin Wortman and Jake Grier -- performed well throughout the 2005 season; and
WHEREAS, the Warriors have been superbly coached and inspired by Coach Ken Williams, who has motivated and challenged the team members to strive for their best; and
WHEREAS, the 2005 Warriors have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to Corinth High School; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate the Corinth High School Warriors Cross Country Team and their coach, Ken Williams, for winning the 2005 Class 3A State Championship, and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.
BE IF FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Corinth High School, Coach Ken Williams and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
