A RESOLUTION COMMENDING J.H. "CHOCTAW" MORROW ON BEING NAMED A MELVIN JONES FELLOW, THE HIGHEST HONOR CONFERRED BY THE LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION.

     WHEREAS, James Hart "Choctaw" Morrow of Webb, Mississippi, a  dedicated member of the Webb Lions Club for 58 years, was recently awarded the highest form of recognition conferred by the Illinois-based Lions Clubs International Foundation, the prestigious designation as a Melvin Jones Fellow; and

     WHEREAS, a recognition of a commitment to humanitarian work created in 1973, the Melvin Jones Fellowship, named for the founder of Lions Clubs International, is an honor that represents humanitarian qualities such as generosity, compassion and concern for the less fortunate; and

     WHEREAS, in a special ceremony honoring Mr. Morrow on the evening of March 14, 2006, Mr. Morrow, presented with a plaque and a pin that his daughter proudly attached to his lapel, was described as a perfect candidate for the award and praised for his "dedication to making the world a better place through humanitarian service"; and

     WHEREAS, in addition, Spencer Hudson, President of the Webb Lions Club, lauded Mr. Morrow, a past Lions district governor, for always being "active and attuned to everything that's going on" and for trying "to promote Lionism all the time"; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Morrow, a graduate of Winona High School and Mississippi State University, is an Army veteran of World War II, where he was decorated with the Purple Heart, and is a retired cotton farmer who remains active in civic and church affairs today; and

     WHEREAS, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Morrow, 84 years young, has been lovingly supported and encouraged in all his endeavors by his faithful wife, Annie "Dink" Morrow, and their family; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippians such as Mr. J.H. Morrow:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend James Hart "Choctaw" Morrow on being designated a Melvin Jones Fellow by the Webb Lions Club and extend to him our heartiest wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to J.H. "Choctaw" Morrow and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
