House Resolution 101

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE NORTHWEST RANKIN HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADING SQUAD FOR WINNING THE CLASS 5A LARGE VARSITY CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Northwest Rankin High School Cheerleading Squad competed in the 5A Large Varsity Division at the MHSAA State Cheerleading Competition on December 17, 2005, and was selected by judges as the 2005-2006 Champions; and

WHEREAS, the Northwest Rankin High School Cheerleading Squad earned their right to compete in the state competition, where they scored 256 of 300 eligible points, after competing in the regional competition at Clinton High School; and

WHEREAS, the Northwest Rankin High School Cheerleading Squad is comprised of: seniors, Kristen Funchess, Jessica House, Lori Sullivan, Julieanne White, Jenna Williams and Becky Winham; juniors, Brittany Bolick, Anna Fairly, Beth Hamilton and Whitney Humphrey; sophomores, Molly Beth Jenkins, Bet Johnston, Jordan Kuhn, Mary Cathryn Reeves, Amy White and Hanna Whitley; and freshmen, Megan Annison, Rachel Beech, Amanda Brumfield, Morgan Burnett, Ashley Chapman, Samantha Donahue, Brittany Evans, Ashley King, Brittany Peeples and Kristin Saxon; and

WHEREAS, the Northwest Rankin High School Cheerleading Squad has been superbly coached by Justin Stricklin and sponsors, Ashley Burdine and Gracie Menetre, who have refined their skills in execution, acrobatics and dance; and

WHEREAS, these young people have practiced and worked together for many hours in the pursuit of excellence and have shown a high degree of sportsmanship while representing the State of Mississippi on the national level; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northwest Rankin High School Cheerleading Squad upon winning the Class 5A Large Varsity Division at the MHSAA State Cheerleading Competition and for being selected as the 2005-2006 Champions.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Central Mississippi Cheerleading Coach Justin Stricklin; sponsors, Ashley Burdine and Gracie Menetre; and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
