A RESOLUTION COMMENDING DR. RANDY M. HAMBLIN FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WEST POINT SCHOOL DISTRICT AND EXPRESSING THE APPRECIATION OF THE LEGISLATURE UPON HIS RETIREMENT.
WHEREAS, the West Point School District will suffer a tremendous loss when Dr. Randy M. Hamblin, its current superintendent of education, retires in the spring of 2006; and
WHEREAS, his tenure with the West Point School District did not begin with his superintendency in 1999, because Dr. Hamblin began his more than 30 years of service to the West Point School District in 1975, having previously served as a coach in the West Point Athletic Program; biology instructor at Fifth Street Junior High School; Assistant Principal and Principal at Central Elementary School; Principal at Fifth Street Junior High School; Principal at West Point Junior High School; and Principal of West Point High School; and
WHEREAS, equipped with ten A, AA, AAA and AAAA professional certifications, Dr. Hamblin's experience in primary and secondary education spans more than three decades and he has served in leadership positions at a number of institutions in the West Point area; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Hamblin earned his associate's degree from East Mississippi Community College in 1972, his bachelor of science in education degree from Mississippi College in 1975 and his master of education, education specialist and doctor of philosophy in education degrees from Mississippi State University in 1981, 1986 and 1996 respectively; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Hamblin has been supported in his enthusiasm and dedication to the West Point School District by his family; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Hamblin has taken a very active role in the community as an educator, administrator and community pillar, as evidenced by his honors and activities, including: Clay County Forestry Association, Calvary Baptist Church Deacon, Coach of the Year, Star Teacher, Administrator of the Year and recipient of the College of Education Circle of Excellence Award from Mississippi State University; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the numerous contributions of such Mississippians as Dr. Hamblin who educate the youth of our state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Dr. Randy M. Hamblin for his many contributions to the West Point School District's education system and extend heartiest congratulations upon his retirement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. Randy M. Hamblin, the West Point School District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
