A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MR. LEE JENNINGS DAVIS ON THE OCCASION OF HIS 90TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION.
WHEREAS, Mr. Lee Jennings Davis, son of Lee Lewis Davis and Carrie Mixon Davis, born on April 12, 1916, in Covington County, Mississippi, the eleventh of twelve children, will soon celebrate the occasion of his 90th anniversary of life; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Davis, a pillar in the community, as well as the backbone of his family, attended Seminary schools and Caney Head school, all located in Seminary, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, a devoted husband to his late wife, Mary Merle Morris Davis, for 65 years, father of two children, Representative Lee Jarrell Davis and Patsy Davis Ainsworth, and grandfather of four, Mr. Davis attributes his longevity to his faith in God, and enjoys the love, adoration and support of his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, a retired manufacturing employee, Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America employee and self-employed farmer, he is known for his smile and jovial nature, which indicate his enthusiasm for company; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend such outstanding individuals as Mr. Davis, whose service to his fellowman, contributions to his creator and exemplary life serve as an example to his family and those around him as trademarks of the life of a model man:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Lee Jennings Davis on the occasion of his 90th birthday, celebrating his life and longevity and extend most heartfelt wishes for continued health, love and happiness in the years to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Davis, the immediate members of his family and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
