A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION TO COMMEND BEST BUY COMPANY, INC., ON THEIR ANNOUNCED COMMITMENT TO AN EIGHT MILLION DOLLAR "REBOOT AND REBUILD" DONATION PROGRAM FOR MISSISSIPPI K-12 SCHOOLS IMPACTED BY HURRICANES KATRINA AND RITA.
WHEREAS, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita produced enormous devastation to many public schools when they slammed into the Mississippi Gulf Coast in August and September 2005; and
WHEREAS, Best Buy Company, Inc., in acknowledging an immediate need to get these schools back into condition to provide education to thousands of Mississippi children, has announced its commitment to an $8 million dollar "Reboot and Rebuild" donation program, including new computers, laser printers, software and appropriate cables; and
WHEREAS, Best Buy Company, Inc., has already donated over 2,000 total computer packages to the following school districts based on need and availability:
Bay St. Louis-Waveland School District
Biloxi Public Schools
Catholic Diocese of Biloxi
Gulfport School District
Hancock County School District
Jackson County Public Schools
Ocean Springs School District
Pascagoula School District
Pass Christian School District
Picayune School District
Poplarville School District; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence such as that exhibited by Best Buy Company, Inc.:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Best Buy Company, Inc., for its commitment to the "Reboot and Rebuild" donation program for schools damaged or destroyed by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Best Buy Company, Inc., and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
