A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE ST. MARTIN HIGH SCHOOL YELLOW JACKETS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR FINE 2005-2006 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE REGION 7, DISTRICT 8 CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the St. Martin High School Yellow Jackets Boys Basketball Team finished the 2005-2006 season with a fine record of 20 wins and 13 losses; and
WHEREAS, the Yellow Jackets did very well in tournament play this year, winning the Region 7, District 8 Championship; and
WHEREAS, the team is comprised of the following members: Billy Bouchillon, Phillip Hardy, T.J. Hay, Renaza Heidelberg, Casey Hill, Justin Hughes, Scott Landry, Devon Matthews, Michael Mooney, Michael Payton, Michael Sherman, Robin Sikes and Eugene Thomas; and
WHEREAS, the Yellow Jackets have been well coached and inspired by Head Coach Shea Scarborough and Assistant Coach Jason Shornier, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, the Yellow Jackets have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to St. Martin High School; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the St. Martin High School Yellow Jackets Boys Basketball Team and their coaches, Head Coach Shea Scarborough and Assistant Coach Jason Shornier, for their fine 2005-2006 season, for winning the Region 7, District 8 Championship, and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to St. Martin High School, Head Coach Shea Scarborough, Assistant Coach Jason Shornier and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
