A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MR. RICHARD WILSON UPON HIS RECEIVING THE MISSISSIPPI CIVIL DEFENSE-EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATIONS BOARD OF DIRECTORS AWARD.
WHEREAS, Mr. Richard Wilson was awarded the Mississippi Civil Defense-Emergency Management Associations (MCDEMA) Board of Directors Award for his outstanding service as the Emergency Management Director for Rankin County; and
WHEREAS, as the first recipient of the MCDEMA Board of Directors Award, Mr. Wilson was chosen for this distinguished honor due to his superb service as Emergency Management Director for Rankin County for 10 years; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wilson is known throughout the state as a highly organized individual who ensures that Rankin County has the resources and needed manpower to help individuals in emergencies when the need arises; and
WHEREAS, as the Emergency Management Director of Rankin County, Mr. Wilson's duties and responsibilities cover a variety of areas such as: coordinating rescue cleanup in areas hit by tornados or in areas affected by solid hazardous materials; heading the county's Homeland Security efforts; overseeing the county's 34-siren severe warning system and overseeing the county's 715-radio communication system; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wilson also oversees Rankin County's 911-Addressing System and Fire Coordinator's Office, as well as the manufacture of street signs for Rankin County streets and roads; and
WHEREAS, in addition to being a diligent and effective Emergency Management Director, which entails a multitude of duties and responsibilities, Mr. Wilson also is an active member of his community and serves many civic organizations and youth programs, and he is the loving husband of the former Ann Berry Wilson and the doting father of their two children, Margo and Tanner; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize a dedicated employee such as Mr. Richard Wilson, who has gone well beyond the call of duty to help ensure that Rankin County and surrounding areas receive timely, well-organized and efficient help during emergencies:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Richard Wilson on his receipt of the Mississippi Civil Defense-Emergency Management Associations Board of Directors Award and for his outstanding career achievements as Emergency Management Director of Rankin County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Richard Wilson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
