AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT WHEN A PLAINTIFF OBTAINS A CIVIL JUDGMENT AGAINST A DEFENDANT ON A DEBT, THE COURT SHALL ORDER THE DEFENDANT TO PAY THE JUDGMENT IMMEDIATELY, AND IF THE DEFENDANT DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY PAY THE JUDGMENT IN FULL, THE COURT SHALL IMMEDIATELY ISSUE A WRIT OF GARNISHMENT AGAINST THE DEBTOR FOR THE PAYMENT OF THE JUDGMENT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. When a plaintiff obtains a civil judgment against a defendant on a debt owed to the plaintiff, the court shall order the defendant to pay the judgment immediately, and if the defendant does not immediately pay the judgment in full, the court shall immediately issue a writ of garnishment against the debtor for the payment of the judgment.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
