AN ACT TO CREATE AN INSTITUTIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM INITIATIVE THAT PROVIDES CERTAIN ASSISTANCE FOR STUDENTS AT COMMUNITY AND JUNIOR COLLEGES TO RECEIVE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT TRAINING; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. There is created an Institutional Training Program Initiative that provides certain assistance for students in one-year or two-year programs at public community and junior colleges to receive workforce development training. The training programs must provide for tuition, books, supplies, a modest stipend for transportation and necessary child care. The training program selected by a student who is eligible for assistance must be in an occupation that has a demonstrated need for additional trained workers.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2006.
