AN ACT TO REQUIRE NOTIFICATION TO CRIME VICTIMS OF THE RELEASE OF THE CRIMINAL OFFENDER FROM CUSTODY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The Department of Corrections and the convicting court shall notify the victim of a crime whenever the person who committed the criminal offense against the victim is being released from the custody of the Department of Corrections or other facility. The notice shall be provided to the crime victim not less than thirty (30) days before such release.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
